Super Duplex Stainless Steel
Chemipetro Limited offers a large variety of products in Super Duplex Stainless Steel alloys such as tubing, seamless and welded pipe, butt weld fittings, flanges, pressure fittings and fasteners:
The first-generation duplex stainless steels were developed more than 70 years ago in Sweden for use in the sulfite paper industry. Called duplex because of its mixed microstructure with about equal proportions of ferrite and austenite, duplex stainless steels are a family of grades, which range in corrosion performance depending on their alloy content. The term “Super Duplex” was first used in the 1980’s to denote highly alloyed, high-performance "super" duplex steel with a pitting resistance.
BENEFITS OF SUPER DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL

Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel: The Basics
If you're in the petrochemical, gas or oil industries, you'll appreciate the need for extra-strong and corrosion-resistant pipes, flanges and other equipment. You'll also know that specialised stainless steel alloys and sometimes titanium are used to make this equipment, and how crucial the choice of material is.
For extreme strength, duplex is made up of 50:50 of ferritic and austenitic steel, while super duplex goes one better, with even more resistance to pitting and stress cracking. There are various kinds of both duplex and super duplex applications, from f55 to f53 and uns s32750, as outlined below. These kinds of stainless steel were developed in Sweden some seven decades ago.
F55 Super Duplex
F55 super duplex has enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared to standard duplex types. This is thanks to the extra chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen of this grade. F55 is the most common super duplex grade.
UNS s32750 Super Duplex
UNS s32750 is a super duplex stainless steel with 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel designed for demanding applications needing outstanding strength and corrosion resistance, including chemical processes, and petrochemical and seawater equipment. UNS s32750 steel has excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high thermal conductivity, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen levels provide fantastic resistance to pitting, crevices and general corrosion.
The impact strength of uns s32750 is also very high. But uns s32750 is not recommended for applications requiring lengthy exposures to temperatures greater than 570°F because this risks reducing its toughness.
F53 Super Duplex
F53 is made up of 50% austenite and 50% ferrite, and f53 also displays high mechanical strength and excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments.
1.4410 Stainless Steel
Another grade of stainless steel is 1.4410. As well as excellent general corrosion resistance, 1.4410 strongly resists corrosion from organic acids even at higher temperatures. In particular, 1.4410 is used in chemical, petrochemical and oilfield plant as pipe-work, fabrications and gaskets. And 1.4410 can also be used in oil field applications where there is exposure to sulphide stress corrosion cracking.
