We Also Manufacture In Duplex And Super Duplex

October 26th, 2009

We realise that not all of our clients are exactly the same and that they might have had to create unique solutions for some unique problems. We are proud to say that we can be a helping hand when those unique problems appear by manufacturing flanges and pipe fittings specifically to your requirements.

We use a wide variety of metals including stainless steels and exotic alloys. We have also introduced new ranges made from duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steels. These are great for the petro-chemical industry field as duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steel have much better anti corrosion qualities than other stainless steels.

Duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steel have a much higher alloy content than normal stainless steels which makes it much stronger and less affected by corrosion and age. Basically the metal is a type of stainless steel with austenite and ferrite as an addition. It is also from there that the term duplex comes, as it is a combination of the austenite and ferrite that gives it its ‘duplex’ qualities.

Duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steel are much cheaper to manufacture, which in turn means that it is much more cost effective for you to use. The fact that it is also a stronger material that withstands corrosion better also means that less is needed in the manufacturing process. The pipes, flanges or fittings can be thinner and smaller than before as these will provide the same effect as the thicker and bigger ones, such as blind flanges and weld neck flanges.

Giving You The Required Documentation

October 23rd, 2009

At Chemipetro we have the ability to provide our customers with any type of flanges, pipe flanges and pipe fittings imaginable. We not only keep stock of many standard stock types but we also have our own on site manufacturing plant where we can make any type of flanges, pipe fittings and pipe flanges according to your specific needs.

Our modified flanges and pipe flanges can be anything from flanges with analysis restriction or pipe flanges with heat treatment. We can also do extra testing on our flanges should you require it. These flanges can also be done with grooves, bevels and back faces should you require that also. Please note that all our flanges and pipe flanges conform to recognised industry standards such as NORSORK M650 and SHELL ES247, ensuring that you will not end up with sub standard products.

Our pipe fittings are also manufactured on site and are made from stainless steel, alloys like monel, incoloy, hastelloy, titanium, cupro nickel, duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steel.  Our pipe fittings in are all stock standard but can also be made per order and be client specific. You might, for instance, need pipe fittings for difficult materials, such as seamless steel tubing. We can do it. Or you might need pipe fittings for a specific wall thickness. We can do it.

Should you require the associated documentation with any products ordered from us, you can request it. We will gladly send you the quality plan, heat treatment charts, 3.1/3.2 certificates and a letter of conformity. We can also supply couplings and socket welds.

The Changing Metal

October 21st, 2009

On the railway track, the train is driving at phenomenal speeds, but with incredible smoothness and very little resistance…almost unbelievable.

This is one of the world’s scientific wonders, and can be attributed to the addition of flanges to the train driving experience, as these flanges are in place to ensure that when the train goes around a bend, it doesn’t derail.

At Chemipetro, a leading distributor, you will find a wide selection of petrochemical components, such as flanges to duplex flanges, which are primarily used in industrial settings but can also be obtained for domestic use.

Our very unique range of pipes and flanges, such as blind flanges and wide neck flanges, makes us one of the largest international retailers of our kind. They can be manufactured with an extensive range of raw materials; the selection often includes a varied range of copper, nickel and iron alloys, which are heat tolerant and pressure tolerant for the specific situation in which they are required.

The flange required for the train rails, naturally, is very different than the flange required for a chemical processes plant that perhaps operate at much higher temperatures and pressures.

Our very knowledgeable experts, such as our chemists and specialist metallurgists may be able to guide you, as we understand that durability of these products in your industry is one of your greatest concerns. We too share the same concerns, as giving you a product that shows excellent performance value over a longer period of time is what we are all about.

We therefore are not only major distributors of these mechanical devices, but we are also leaders in the field of metals and their alloys, by understanding our metals’ behaviour in varying contexts. We can also supply 12 point bolting and tie rods.

The High Cost Of Flanges

October 19th, 2009

The manufacturing process of pipe fittings, flanges, pipe flanges, etc. is indeed a very thorough process, for these implements form the very foundations of industries such as the fishing industry, oil rigs and the likes, some industries that convert raw elements into useable products for consumption.

As such, these pipe fittings and flanges are indeed very expensive to manufacture by the very nature of the manufacturing process, and therefore not surprisingly, you may find that they are indeed rather expensive.

At Chemipetro you may find that we offer some of the most competitive pipe fitting prices in the industry, as we offer to provide outstanding product quality combined with the most cost effective rates in the UK.

We are very client focused in terms of what your specific needs are with these metallic fittings, in as much as we assist you with product specifications to the tee, as per your industry’s plant’s requirements. Our fully trained staff gladly assists on a 24-hour rotational basis.

Whether you require your pipe fittings or 3d & 5d induction bends for a petrochemical plant, a fishery, or simply repairing a railroad, we have done our homework in the form of market-related prices research, and cannot emphasise enough how valuable research is. It is therefore with that in mind, as we understand how costly these very important implements are, that you perhaps do research as well.

There is no better place to visit than right here at Chemipetro, and compare our very unique quality collection of flanges, tie rods and more to other major distributors, and you may find that you don’t want to look the other way again.

Parts Of A Whole

October 16th, 2009

Advanced technology started taking shape many centuries ago, where science had begun to fashion many tools for specific purposes, leading us on a technological road, with endless advancement and mastering our environment.

For example, it was not long ago that Henry Ford had taught us about the assembly line, but what he really taught us was the ‘putting together of individual elements’ in order to create the whole.

Modern engineers had been increasingly pressurised to conform to the tradition of science, one for example, to make stronger materials, and they have to some extent succeeded in the ‘creation’ of alloy metals.

Our very own metallurgists and scientists here at Chemipetro follow this very tradition, that of quality control, as we are always in pursuit of stocking lighter, yet stronger metals that are more heat resistant in their materials. Our special range of flanges and pipes, weld neck flanges for example, testify to that as these come in alloys of Carbon, Nickel and Iron.

Steel, or stainless steel rather, is an alloy of Iron and Carbon and is able to be graded, depending on the amount of Carbon that it contains. The exact quality of your steel pipes or flanges are therefore dependent on you, in as much as you tell us what your specific requirements are.

So for example, you may require a soft stainless steel as opposed to a stainless steel that can withstand very high pressures. We are able to produce such steel to your specifications.

Being one of the leading distributors in the petrochemical industry of flanges such as blind flanges and weld neck flanges, we make it our business to first and foremost understand the needs for which our flanges and products are used as it saves a lot of time and money, but most of all, it ensures that quality is guaranteed each time.

The Strength And Resisting Power Of Super Duplex

October 14th, 2009

Due to the high amount of corrosion in the petrochemical field, it is vital that materials are used that can combat this. Super duplex stainless steel is one of these materials. As an improvement on duplex stainless steels, it is very much the same thing with the difference being that super duplex have higher amounts of alloy and have increased resistance to pitting, crevice and stress corrosion cracking and additional increase in strength values.

Super duplex also provides more strength than normal stainless steel and duplex stainless steel because of the higher alloy content.

Super duplex will allow for high thermal conductivity, is good for welding, will resist corrosion fatigue and have low coefficient of thermal expansion. When compared to austenitic stainless steels, test results showed that super duplex had a higher heat conductivity, low thermal expansion, high energy absorption, high strength, good resistance to sulfide stress corrosion and a high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

Another interesting fact is the high chromium levels found in super duplex stainless steel. The reason for this is that it gives it high pitting resistance, makes it more resistant to acid chlorides as well as caustic solutions and is suitable for more strenuous environments than other stainless steels. It is also a good replacement for nickel based steels and 300 grade stainless alloys.

At Chemipetro we have flanges, seamless steel tubing, pipe fittings and fasteners that are manufactured using super duplex stainless steel. Contact us to find out exactly what we can offer you as well as some of our other products, including socket head cap screws and stud bolts.

What Are Duplex Stainless Steels?

October 12th, 2009

In the early 1990s,  duplex stainless steel was introduced to the electric power industry by metallurgists who had been doing research on combining metals for welding purposes.

They used austenite and ferrite in the same material, which worked beautifully, and was also a very cost effective new material that did not corrode easily. The name duplex comes from the fact that thay made a two phase micro-structure that consists mainly of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel.

Today we have both duplex and super duplex stainless steel and the use of these has revolutionised the industrial and production industries.

Duplex quickly proved to be much cheaper to use in more than one way. The materials are much less costly, but manufacturers could also use less of it for their end product. Duplex does not corrode easily, which means when talking about a pipe for instance, that the pipe can be much thinner as the duplex will last for much longer.

We have a full range of duplex flanges in many materials, such as ASTM a182 f51, and pipe fittings available but can also manufacture these to specification for you. Please contact us for our full range and quotations, and remember that we have a 24-hour emergency break down call out service as well as offering other products such as stud bolts and tie rods.

Flanges To Your Specifications

October 5th, 2009

What are flanges? Flanges are external joints or rims that are used to join and seal pipes. In petrochemical terms it would mean the rims that are fitted to join the pipes, but also to help with the assembly and dissemble of the pipes.

Flanges would usually be either welded onto the pipes to ensure that they are sealed, but can also be bolted on to make the dissemble process easier. When browsing through our range of flanges, you will notice certain codes. These codes are to ensure uniformity in the size and shape. In the United Kingdom you will see that in the BS codes and in the United States it would be ANSI or ASA.

You also get the European codes, namely PN or DIN, and in Korea and Japan they use KIS and JIS. These codes will be followed by numbers that indicate the shape and also the amount of pressure and temperature these flanges can withstand.

At Chemipetro we have many different flanges, such as blind flanges and weld neck flanges, which can all be made with grooves, back faces, bevels and bores according to your needs. As we manufacture them ourselves the specifications can be done to suit exactly what you need. You can give us your specifications and we will design them, or you can supply us with your own drawings.

We can also manufacture flanges with modified specifications like analysis restrictions, extra testing and heat treatment. We can also do specifications for high pressures and wall thickness.

Get in touch with us, no matter what kind of flanges – including weld flanges and blind flanges – and specifications you need and we will make it happen for you at Chemipetro.
