Get it and get to work

October 20th, 2011

It’s harder than ever to make money these days, with small businesses failing all over the place and even the bankers tightening their belts. However, those of us lucky enough to be in a trade, like plumbing, which will never be obsolete, there are still plenty of ways to keep your head above water and your business thriving. Learning to navigate the new environment of information available freely that facebook, twitter and industry rating sites have created is tough, but it’s the only way to get ahead. Read on to find out how the experts are making money in plumbing by playing the game.

The first and most important thing is that the plumbers making serious money are doing so by building up a loyal client base. If you can earn a customer’s trust, they’ll call you whenever there’s a problem, even if you aren’t the cheapest on the block. You’ll get to know their systems, which saves you time, and if you’re lucky they’ll even recommend you to friends, family and neighbours.

How to build a loyal client base? It’s simpler than it sounds; it’s all about communication. Most people can’t really understand plumbing, because they don’t know their socket head cap screws from their stud bolts. Helping them understand is vital to building trust.

Last but not least, never keep them waiting. Buy pipe fittings from Chemi Petro and you’ll have them in your hand next day, meaning that you never leave a customer in the lurch. Simple.

Saving small business owners money

October 15th, 2011

New figures show that a quarter of small businesses will fail in their first year. These tricky financial times are hardest of all on small enterprises that are just starting up, many of whom are inexperienced, and juggling big business loans with learning to be their own boss. Those that survive do so by keeping it simple, going back to the nuts and bolts of their business- in the case of plumbing, quite literally- and then saving money wherever they can.

We never cut corners, which is why our pipe fittings are industry grade and as solid as they come, meaning they’ll never let you down. We trade online, meaning you can scroll through our catalogue for what you want, and find it, regardless of whether you call it seamless tube or seamless steel tubing. We’ve got an enormous in-stock range, which means we’ll try our best never to keep you waiting. That means you won’t have to keep your customers waiting, and in this day and age getting a reputation for being efficient can only do you and your business good.

So if you’ve got big ideas for your business, do what you can to keep it safe with these simple tips. Save money and time whenever you can, buy in bulk, buy online, and don’t wait for pipe fittings. Instead, choose a retailer willing to get them to you as soon as possible. Every little really does help when it comes to saving money for the future of your business.

Going back to business basics

October 13th, 2011

The idea of going back to basics in these increasingly mechanised, automated times might sound counter-intuitive when businesses seem to getting more high-tech all the time. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that all this financial trouble started in the first place with getting too far from the grass-roots of business. We think that many customers in all walks of life are starting to feel disillusioned with technology and have started looking for things to be simple and reliable. It isn’t just older people who don’t want to worry about the high tech option; many young people grew up understanding that there is something fundamentally ethereal about digital information, and are therefore understandably sceptical of transferring money online.

What does going back to basics mean for the plumbing trade? Firstly, it means saving money by looking at those bits and bobs you buy and replace every day. It’s surprising how those little purchases, like pipe fittings, can start to add up. The answer? Buying in bulk from a trusted local and international retailer like Chemi Petro. We know the trade, which means that when it comes to everyday kit we know what you need. Knowing our seamless stainless steel pipe from our seamless steel tube means that we never deliver you the wrong item or let you down. Order from us before 5pm today, and you could have that last little job done as soon as tomorrow, winning you a reputation for being as efficient as we are.

Properly Fitting Pipe Flanges

September 27th, 2011

Flanges are the strengthening rims on the ends of a pipe. Pipe flanges are added to pipes based on material, strength, and dimensions. Pipes and tubes should always be fitted with the right flanges as there is a good deal of difference from product to product.
Pipe flanges can be made of any material that a pipe is made of: stainless steel, copper, Duplex, Super Duplex, PVC, etc. The material that the flange is made of should be the same material as the pipe.
If you are looking for pipes and pipe fittings, such as flanges and other products, Chemi Petro can provide you with everything you need, no matter what project you have in mind.
You’ll find all of the following flanges in stock: weld-neck, blind, slip-on, lap-joint, screwed, long weld neck, orifice, spade, spacer, spectacle, swivel-ring, cross-over, and adaptor.
We are a major British supplier and manufacturer of pipe flanges, stainless steel pipe, and many other plumbing industry related pipe products. We pride ourselves in offering the best UK made products at competitive prices.
We supply high quality flanges which conform to most recognised standards including standard types, standard grades, and standard facings. All of our work is one by qualified manufacturers and welders, and all of our products are certified.
We can also advise you on the materials and products you need, and sometimes do custom orders. To find out more, get in touch by phone, fax, post, or email. Just click the Contact tab for details.

Sourcing the Right Parts

September 20th, 2011

When it comes to any type of plumbing or pipe installation, it is incredibly important to have the right parts available to do the job. Installing the wrong pipes, fittings or flanges will not only cause immediate problems, but also create more significant issues further down the line. However, it is not always easy to get the “right” parts, especially when the ones you need aren’t standard seamless stainless steel pipe fittings.

Thankfully, there is a solution.

Types of Flange

September 20th, 2011

A flange is a device used for connecting two pipe fittings together, a pipe to a valve (or tee), or a pipe to a choke. There are various different types of flanges available:

Slip-on flange
This type of flange is bored to a somewhat larger size than the exterior diameter of the pipe. This allows the pipe to simply slip into the flange and be welded (inside and out) to prevent leaks.

Socket weld flange
Although similar to a slip-on flange, a socket weld flange requires a counter bore that is a little larger than the pipe’s exterior diameter.

Orifice flange
An orifice flange is generally used to meter the flow of a piped liquid or gas. In addition, jack screws are also required to broaden the flange so that an orifice plate situated between two flanges can be changed.

Weld neck flange
This type of flange is drilled in such a way that the thickness of the walls is made to match the dimensions of the pipe. A weld neck flange is most commonly used in high pressure and extreme temperature applications.

Blind flange
A blind flange has no bore and is typically used to close the ends of piping systems as it allows for easy access to a line once it has been sealed. Blind flanges can be made to accommodate a pipe of nominal size which has been reduced.

Introduction to Duplex Stainless Steel

September 20th, 2011

Duplex stainless steel was developed in the early 1990’s by metallurgists who were conducting research on combining metals for welding applications in the electric power industry. The metallurgists’ research found that the combination of austenite and ferrite in the same material created a new material that was incredibly resistant to the effects of corrosion. This new material was named “duplex” to reflect the fact that it was made up of a two phase micro-structure consisting mainly of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel.

Succesful and cost-effective
The potential of this new material was clear to see and in a very short time, it was proving to be very successful and cost-effective in a number of different ways. Indeed, not only were the constituent materials relatively inexpensive to source, but manufacturers also needed to use less of them to create their end product. This was because duplex ‘s corrosion resistant properties allowed products such as pipes and flanges to be made much thinner than comparable products made from more traditional materials.

Chemipetro
This revolutionary development in stainless steel has helped to completely transform the manufacturing and production industries. To reflect this, we here at Chemipetro offer a full range of flanges, pipes, fittings and other products made of duplex, as well as other materials. Finding exactly what you want online

July 27th, 2011

The internet is the world’s biggest information resource and the world’s biggest marketplace. There are far more products (and far more information about those products) online than in any city. Collect up all the flanges and socket head screw caps in London, Birmingham, and Manchester combined and the total number and variety wouldn’t come close to what you can find online.

No matter what you want, the exact thing is out there on the internet somewhere. On our site alone we describe hundreds of different options in all kinds of standard materials (stainless steel for example) and exotic alloys like Monel 400, Titanium, or Cupro Nickel (90/10 or 70/30). There is more of less anything you might need for a gas or petrochemical piping project.

We don’t have a standard ‘online shop’ because many of our customers don’t want off-the-shelf fittings. They know they won’t get exactly the right component if they walk into a hardware shop or maybe even a specialist store that sells nothing but flanges and gas pipes. Instead, we aim to provide listings describing all our product options in an easy to navigate format, so anyone visiting the site can have a good look through and figure out exactly what they need us to provide or create for them.

ChemiPetro Limited is happy to work with any customer in the gas or petrochemical fitting industry, to devise an outstanding product solution for any project. Whether you need a handful of standard socket head screw caps or a complex suite of hundreds of different parts, we can help.

Titanium Continues to See Diverse Industrial Application

May 9th, 2011

If there’s one challenge faced by every mechanical engineer in the world, it’s how to reduce component lifecycle cost effectively, safely and with prudent design in mind. We offer titanium products as a workable alternative to weaker materials. Our engineers expertly craft titanium components such as flanges and seamless tube products to meet the highest of standards in diverse industries including farming, aerospace and the marine industries.

Qualities
A very particular combination of qualities lifts titanium above contenders. A very high weight to strength ratio is perhaps the most famous quality of titanium, although lesser known qualities (outside industrial familiarity) include high resistance to crevice corrosion, an aptitude to withstand both hot-dry and cold-wet acid gas loading, resistance to corrosion fatigue and erosion (with particular note of titanium’s excellent resistance to erosive and corrosive high temperature acid steam).

The density of titanium is approximately half that of other nickel-based metal options, which can afford our clients potential savings of around half their predicted cost per unit area.

Titanium also boasts a lifecycle up to around five times as long as competitor metals, particularly in reference to very harsh environmental pressure.

Surface Oxide Layer
The surface oxide layer of titanium is the key to its astonishing resistance qualities. Many of our clients commission products like titanium seamless tube implants to reduce the effects of continuous internal corrosion on things such as cooling systems.

The inherent excellent qualities of titanium have led to its application across the board in most industries. Our ranges of titanium products include flanges, pressure fittings, fasteners, butt weld fittings and various piping.
