We offer a number of different options when it comes to the type of steel you want for your pipes and pipe fittings. You can choose from duplex, super duplex, 6 moly, titanium and stainless options for your industrial needs. As a company who is leading the market, your experience with us and the quality that you receive should be the best available and this is why we institute a fully accredited quality control system which is approved to BS EN ISO 9001 by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. This means that all of our pipes and pipe fittings are manufactured under the strictest guidelines to ensure that your duplex steel is not only manufactured to the highest quality possible, but also supplied to it as well. On top of this we manufacture and supply only to each customer’s specific requirements which we ensure ourselves.

We also provide a 24 hour emergency breakdown service should you need it. While all of our products are tested to the very limits of their capabilities, in this industry wear and duress do take their toll over time, but our emergency service can mean that what threatened to be a disaster is only a minor problem. We aim to provide the petrochemical industry with maximum uptime, so it is in our interests as well to ensure that you always have reliable and functioning technology. At Chemipetro we have been expanding and investing to be the best, which is an honour we’d like to keep.

Titanium is as strong as steel but is only half as heavy. Furthermore, it is also very resistant to corrosion and can comfortably withstand acid and chlorine attacks. However, although most people perceive it to be a modern material, Titanium has actually been around for a long time.

Identification
Titanium was first identified in 1791 by an amateur geologist named William Gregor when he isolated it in sand that he was taking samples of. However, this new substance did not receive an official name until 1795, when German chemist Martin Heinrich Klaproth decided that it should be named after the famous Titans from Greek mythology.

Modern applications
It was more than a hundred years until the first usable sample of Titanium was successfully produced and even then, the first commercial samples were not made available until the early 1930’s. However, the Cold War standoff between the USA and the USSR led to many significant developments during the 1950’s, most notably with the Soviets using Titanium in their submarines. Naturally, the Americans followed suit and found the properties of Titanium so indispensable that they quickly declared it to be of strategic importance.

Flanges & pipe fittings
The unique characteristics of Titanium have helped to make it a fundamental ingredient in a wide range of occupational fields, including the petrochemical industry. Indeed, we here at Chemipetro manufacture a wide range of products such as flanges and pipe fittings from Titanium which deliver truly outstanding results.

When undertaking a project or job you need to sure you know all the necessary information to complete it successfully. There are numerous common methods for pipe fittings. These include four way fittings, pitless adapters, compression fittings and flexible coupling, not to mention cap and rigid fittings, adapters and bulkhead fittings which are also used. With so much variation is can be easy to become overwhelmed by the different types.

When considering pipe fittings, the shape and materials are important to focus on. Typically pipe fittings come in basic shapes such as round, oval, rectangular or square. The materials used for them do vary but common materials include carbon, steel, and bronze to name but a few.

A seamless stainless steel pipe is a common product as steel is extremely versatile. Depending on your project the material needed will correlate to the environment it is used in. It is very important to check the sizes you require as if the size is incorrect it could delay your project or even pose a danger if used.

This is especially important when ordering from our online site. Ordering online is brilliant for fast supply and distribution of the required materials but you need to be certain of your measurements as you cannot physically see the product until it has been delivered. For example, ordering the wrong seamless stainless steel pipe will prevent you from working, cost additional money and be detrimental to the overall success of the work.

Common industrial flanges.
We supply numerous different pipe flanges but there are typically a few common types. Flanges are the rings, usually supplied with bolt holes, which can be attached to the ends of a pipe or piece of tubing to allow other pipes or industrial objects to be easily attached. They allow the adaption of materials to suit a project such as a pipe that needs to change direction; flanges can be employed to do this. They also provide an additional benefit in strengthening the pipeline.

The first common flange is an anchor flange, which, as the name suggests, are used to anchor a pipe. A specific type of holder is used for them to support the pipe. The anchor piece is attached, usually through welding, typically surrounded by concrete. These types of flanges can be best for usage where the pipeline changes course or at crossings.

The next type of flange is a split flange which can be ideal for use on piping that already exists. A split flange compromises of two parts that interlock and, using nuts and bolts or welding, gives a very secure fit. Due to it being made up from a double-piece, these types of pipe flanges are often used to amend areas that have become weaker or to provide an additional attachment that a standard flange is unable to do.

Expander flanges are known as a type of welding pipe neck piece that is used to make the size of the pipe bigger at a flange connection point. They are a less expensive and more compact than using a separate reducer welding neck flange combination. This saves you space and money.

Health & Safety holds as prominent a place in our offices as it does on our factory floor. We understand the vital role the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) play in the maintenance and implementation of Health & Safety measures throughout the U.K, which is why we not only take onboard their recommendations and legal requirements, but also implement our own tailored Health & Safety conventions.

Manufacture and Storage
Our product manufacture facility currently covers around 23,000 sq. ft. And we see that as 23,000 sq. ft where everything from the smallest stud bolts to the largest seamless pipe MUST be accounted for and stored safety and in line with HSE regulations.

Environmental Challenges
Although we don’t manufacture and work within the hostile environments our products are often designed for, we implement both legally required and additional product testing to make sure all our stud bolts, flanges and various other components perform with 100% reliability under pressure. In the cases of seamless pipe products we habitually put into practice supplementary testing such as liquid penetrant inspection and hydrogen induced cracking.

HSE Recommendations
The HSE is quick to point out that the simplest of component failures can result in millions of pounds worth of damage and potentially fatal accidents. Ongoing legislature and HSE campaigns push for complete component reliability, comprehensive product testing and the shunning of a “cutting corners in favour of lower costs” attitude throughout the petrochemical industry. We’re fully onboard with these recommendations and look forward to continuing our work producing top quality components.

We work with various materials on a daily basis, but perhaps one of the most sought-after steel alloys we produce is 6% molybdenum stainless steel (6MO) We currently offer standard and non-standard components in 6MO, including pipe flanges and stud bolts. We carry a healthy stock of these products because we don’t believe our clients should have to wait any more than is absolutely necessary for their products. Such a catalogue system is also vital to the commendable running of our 24 breakdown service, transporting components to emergency situations 24 hours a day.

Strength
As a pure element, molybdenum has the sixth highest melting point of any element. This makes it an ideal addition to high strength steel alloys. Even in such small inclusive portions (e.g. 6% molybdenum) it can be used to form superalloys with incredible qualities of strength and heat resistance.

Temperature Resistance
We habitually work alongside clients looking for high-performing components (stud bolts, seamless tubing, pipe flanges etc) across a diverse spectrum of industries. Heat resistance can be a factor in every industry, from marine petrochemical transport to aviation and agriculture. 6MO is noted for its ability to resist expansion, contraction, softening and hardening in extremely high temperatures, making it the material of choice for the likes of aviation components, filaments and industrial piping.

Other Qualities
• Despite showing such significant resistance to high temperatures, 6MO is incredibly dexterous in terms of weldability.
• 6MO is highly resistant to corrosion, stress cracking and pitting.

Innovations are greeted with a critical eye (can they stand up to their promise?) and longstanding bastions are tough to replace. One such frontrunner is titanium. We occasionally publish news entries about the diverse applications of titanium – golf clubs, climbing equipment, steam condensers, seawater management systems etc – so here’s a brief novice’s guide to exactly why titanium retains its rank in our business.

Component Lifecycle vs. Replacement Costs
It’s an industry-wide conundrum – spend more on longer lasting components (titanium socket weld, flanges etc) or spend less on weaker materials that will need to be replaced sooner. In our opinion, a little extra investment in top quality products, expert engineering and faultless manufacture is always best. We promote titanium as improving the average lifecycle of a component (compared to its lifecycle when made from an inferior material) by around 500%

Qualities of Titanium
• The surface oxide layer of titanium is the element that gives it such astonishing resilience to temperature and corrosion (certainly a worthy quality in terms of components such as tubing, flanges and socket weld)
• The density of titanium if roughly half the density of other nickel-based alloys.
• The exceedingly high weight to strength ratio of titanium is perhaps its most well-known quality.
• Temperature resistance (both high and low) is also an incredibly prominent quality of titanium.
• Resistance to both erosive and corrosive products makes titanium an invaluable material in the petrochemical industry.
