Asni B16.5

The ansi designations include ansi b16.5, which covers pressure-temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, marking, testing, and methods of designating openings for pipe flanges and flanged fittings.

The ansi b16.5 designation is unique, and not interchangeable with a flange of a different classification.

Weld Neck Flanges

Weld neck flanges are the most popular type of high pressure pipe flange The tapered hub design of weld neck flanges provides an extremely strong connection and weld neck flanges can be repeatedly manipulated and bent without compromising the material and or connection quality. Weld neck flanges also have the advantage of being highly resistant to extreme high and low temperatures.

Blind flanges are often used to seal or blank off the ends of valves and pipes. Blind flanges are always round and have bolt holes around their perimeter. And blind flanges are also known for being very economical.

API Flanges

API flanges are manufactured for high strength operating refinery systems with products such as oil and explosive gases. API flanges are also made with a higher operating pressure, which sets them apart from say an ansi b16.5 flange.

Within api flanges, there are further categories, such as api 6a.
